Performing Throughout San Diego and Southern California
San Diego has been at the center of Matthew King's career as a professional magician for more than 25 years. During that time, he has entertained at corporate events, conferences, conventions, trade shows, team building events, weddings, holiday parties, networking receptions, private celebrations, theaters, resorts, restaurants, and special events throughout San Diego County.
Matthew's local San Diego performances have taken him to many of the region's best-known hotels, resorts, theaters, museums, restaurants, and event spaces. These include Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, House of Blues San Diego, Humphreys Concerts by the Bay, Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego Civic Theatre, San Diego Air & Space Museum, Fairmont Grand Del Mar, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, Estancia La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club, The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, The Skybox overlooking Petco Park, and Vintana Wine + Dine, along with numerous other hotels, ballrooms, restaurants, private venues, and corporate event spaces throughout the county and Southern California.

Local Experience Makes a Difference
|
Every San Diego event presents a different entertainment environment. A waterfront cocktail reception requires a different approach from a stage performance in a hotel ballroom. A busy convention reception downtown has different timing and audience-flow considerations than an intimate executive dinner in La Jolla or a wedding cocktail hour overlooking the coast.
Having performed throughout the region for decades, Matthew understands how to adapt the entertainment to the venue, audience, schedule, and purpose of the event. Strolling magic and mentalism can create natural conversation during a networking reception without interrupting its flow. An intimate parlor show can transform a smaller dinner or executive gathering into a shared experience, while an interactive stage show can bring an entire ballroom together for a featured performance. For event planners, that experience means hiring more than a magician who is simply available to travel to San Diego. Matthew is a longtime San Diego entertainer with extensive experience performing for local companies, organizations, venues, event professionals, and audiences throughout the region. |

When Hiring Any Magician...
Not all magicians or magic shows are created equal. Knowing how to perform impressive magic is only part of being a great entertainer. Personality, professionalism, humor, audience interaction, appearance, and the ability to connect with your guests can be just as important as the magic itself.
Before booking any magician, consider having a brief phone or video conversation with the actual performer who will appear at your event. You're not simply hiring a collection of tricks; you're hiring a personality who may be interacting directly with your executives, clients, friends, family, or guests.
Photos, promotional videos, websites, and increasingly AI-enhanced marketing don't always provide the complete picture. Ask whether the performances, illusions, and production elements shown in their promotional materials are representative of what they actually perform and what will be included at your event. A quick conversation gives you an opportunity to make sure the performer's personality, communication style, presentation, and overall approach are the right fit for your event. This can reveal something equally important: how the entertainer connects with people.
Matthew is always happy to speak directly with prospective clients before booking so you can feel confident about exactly who, and what, you're bringing to your event.
